"Real faith" in the good news is necessary in order to enter a "real rest" for the people of God. The writer of Hebrews encouraged all to "hold fast to the end" in the previous passage. Here he gives caution lest there be even ONE person who might miss out on the "rest" which God will provide for those who are His.
