Sometimes an object is in a photo to give viewers a sense of contrast to the primary subject. Similarly, writers use "literary foils." A foil is a secondary character who gives contrast to the primary character whose strengths are then more obvious juxtaposed the secondary character. In our text Christ is juxtaposed to the angels, they are secondary and we are instructed to pay attention to Him!
